Greenland organisation established in 2020, is a non-profit organisation based in the Chankanai Divisional Secretariat Area in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. The organisation focuses on organic farming and community education while addressing the needs of marginalized groups, including special needs individuals, the elderly, cancer patients, and prisoners. It also supports Montessori schools and provides meals to local schools. Through various projects and programs, Greenland organisation is committed to improving the living standards of the community.
The foundation aids high school initiatives, sports clubs, and youth clubs. While we initially managed these efforts remotely from Europe for the first 10 years, we relocated to Sri Lanka in 2019 to oversee and expand these initiatives directly. Currently, the organisation employs a total of twenty-eight workers, including full-time, part-time, and contracted staff, all working together to uplift the local community and contribute to sustainable.
Our mission is to improve the lives of those in need by delivering essential services and support to our communities. We are driven by the belief that everyone deserves access to basic necessities, including food, shelter, healthcare, and education. By addressing these fundamental needs, we strive to create a more equitable and compassionate society where individuals can thrive and reach their full potential, regardless of their circumstances. Our commitment to empowerment is at the heart of everything we do as we work together to build a brighter future for all.

GLF projects

Tree Plantation Project
At GLF, we prioritize sustainability through diverse tree plantations, enhancing farm productivity and the environment. We cultivate coconut, mango, and banana trees, which provide valuable resources, promote soil health, and support biodiversity, contributing to ecological balance.
Organic Crop Farming
Organic crop farming eliminates synthetic chemicals, focusing on soil health through practices like crop rotation and composting. It promotes sustainability, biodiversity, and nutrient-rich food while reducing environmental impact and supporting healthy ecosystems.

Husbandry
Animal husbandry involves the care, breeding, and management of livestock for purposes such as food production, labor, and other resources. It focuses on improving the health, well-being, and productivity of animals while ensuring sustainable and ethical farming practices..
Educational
Project
GLF’s educational projects and donations provide quality education and resources to underserved communities, supporting schools, scholarships, and materials to improve outcomes and empower individuals for a brighter future.
WC4ALL
Project
The WC4All project provides accessible sanitation for all, ensuring clean, safe toilets for everyone. It focuses on underserved areas to improve public health and dignity for vulnerable populations.

The Green Project
Planting trees to improve environmental health, enhance biodiversity, and combat climate change. It contributes to cleaner air, soil conservation, and the restoration of ecosystems, benefiting both the environment and local communities.


Recreational
Project
We are dedicated to supporting recreational projects that foster community well-being and outdoor activities. By investing in such initiatives, we aim to enhance public spaces and create opportunities for people to connect with nature and each other.
Rehabilitation and Supporting Projects
We have an interest in supporting vulnerable communities, namely the Elderly, individuals with special needs, Childrens's homes and those recovering from addictions. We strive towards improving their quality of life.

GLF makes donations and contributions to temples it is affiliated with, supporting their upkeep and spiritual activities. These contributions help strengthen cultural traditions and provide resources for community outreach and religious events.
